Sylt summer, on film. 🎞️
Growing up by the Adriatic, summer always meant heat, warm sea and long evenings outside.

And then I completely fell in love with Sylt.

Barefoot walks at the beach, biking trough dunes, beautiful thatched houses that felt straight out of a movie… and putting on a cosy knit in the evening feels just magical 🤍

With Northern Germany now part of my life, I’m discovering a completely different version of summer, its places and traditions, and how beautiful it can be.

Lately I’ve been photographing every wedding in a hybrid way, digital and on 35mm film.

With film, every frame matters. There are no endless bursts. No checking the back of the camera. Just trust, instinct, and paying complete attention to what’s happening in front of me.

Ironically, film doesn’t just create beautiful photographs.
I feel like it makes me a better photographer. It reminds me to embrace the imperfections that often become the images people love the most.

And then there’s the favorite part for me: opening the scans from the camera store the first time.
Even after photographing weddings for more than 15 years, that feeling never gets old. It feels a little like reliving the wedding all over again through photographs I haven’t seen yet.

Film keeps photography exciting for me every.single.time.

One of my favourite moments at a wedding is seeing

One of my favourite moments at a wedding is seeing the space completely finished, just before anyone walks in.

For a few minutes, everything is still. The tables are untouched, every flower is in place, and the full vision can finally be seen.
At Palácio de Queluz, that moment felt especially grand. And then the doors opened, the rooms filled with people, music and movement and the palace transformed once again.

Photographing both versions of the space is always fascinating: the beauty of the design before the celebration, and the life it takes on afterwards.

I think Gstaad is at its most beautiful in summer.
There is something incredibly elegant about the contrast of dark timber chalets, wild green mountains and those moody alpine skies.

This intimate wedding at The Alpina Gstaad had exactly that feeling, quiet and atmospheric.
For me, this is Switzerland at its best.

The answer isn’t bringing more equipment, it’s knowing how to use less.

A groom, surrounded by his closest friends, laughing, waiting and trying to hide just a little bit of the nerves.

It’s the anticipation that gets me every time.
The excitement. The deep breaths. The jokes that become just a little louder to mask what’s really going on. It‘s the moment before everything becomes real and he sees her. Before the emotions take over.

And somehow, between the laughter, the anticipation and the nerves, there’s already so much love in the room, before the bride even arrives there. Incredible moments to photograph!

Yes, the masserias are beautiful. The olive groves are endless. But what makes this place unforgettable is the hospitality. The warmth, the incredible food, the long dinners under the stars, and the feeling that every guest is welcomed like family.
